Ham Radio
Yes, I am a ham (Call sign withheld at customers request). I got my license in July of 1995 after getting knee surgery and having to sit around for 2 weeks. I picked up the books and studied myself to death. I have a Technician No-Code license, and have learned the code, but need to get my speed up to get my Tech+ License.

Well I have traded my Kenwood R-5000 SW rig for a Mountain Bike. I decided the R5000 was just sitting on my desk doing nothing, so I made a deal on usenet! Very cool, this Internet thing. I HAD a Yaesu FT-8500 in the car until some spineless !@(*$&# broke into my car and STOLE it! In May 1996, I replaced it with a Yaesu FT-3000m radio. I liked the FT-8500, but it was just too hard to use. The FT-3000m is a not a dual-bander, but it does have all the other features I like, and it's a heck of a lot easier to use. I've also owned a Kenwood TH-79a and currently have an Icom IC-735 that I picked up somewhere or other.

Someday I'll start the process again to get my General...

One of many HTs I don't own.
