GAD works full time developing a planet crusher gun for the Death Star. . . oh wait...
GAD is a Senior Consulting Engineer for Alliant Technologies in New Jersey. Consultants differ from Contract Workers in that we come in and tell you what you need to have done, plan how you'll do it, keep you on track doing it, and pretty much guarantee it will be done the right way the first time. Contract workers are more like employees in that they come in and the client tells them what to do. Consultants are like the SWAT teams of the computer industry. I work primarily with Cisco Network Design and Implementation. I design customer's LANs, WANs, website infrastructure, Frame Relay clouds, Switching architectures and whatever else then need designed. Stuff I play with on a daily basis includes (but is not limited to): BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, PIX Firewalls, High-end routers and switches, redundancy, failover, and so on. If you know what Full tables, Multi Exit Discriminators, ISL Trunking, Conduits, ACLs and Route Reflectors are, then you've got a pretty good idea of what I do every day. I have the following certifications: (I feel that the CCIE is the only certification worth a damn in the industry today)
