The Prototype Nightingale

Though these pages are dedicated to the Nightbird, it seems appropriate to mention the Nightingale. The Nightingale is the semi hollow body version of the Nightbird. There were as few as 82 made from 1984 to 1985. They are extremely rare!! The Nightingale's only popularity was the due to bluesman, Buddy Guy, who played one.  George Gruhn was kind enough to send pictures of the prototype, which is still in his possession.

As you can see, the Nightingale had similiar electronics as the Nightbird ie.. phase switch and push/pull coil tap.

The Nightingale used the same hardware as the Nightbird and the same slotted diamond inlays.

Truly, one of the most stunning semi hollow bodies around!
